WordPress just released a new version. I installed the new 2.7 wordpress, and it looks great. I actually like the enhanced useability features. The weblog now is centered around your post. From the time you login you can see straight infront latest comments, a tool to do a quick post with a very clean and neat interface, lots of white, high contrast.
Best of all, clker.com plugin still works so, hopefully I’ll get some time to add a couple of features this weekend.
So finally today someone in wordpress approved the clker clipart plugin. I uploaded the plugin to the SVN repository, and their system generated the .ZIP file that wordpress users need to download.
Of course nothing is perfect. It took several iterations to get the generated zip file to work on wordpress after it gets downloaded and unzipped.
I believe I did a good job on that one. I’ve got lots of other ongoing projects including a lot of social networking code, after which I really need to update the openoffice plugin to be something similar to the wordpress one. It looks like the basket idea wasn’t very usable.
If the openoffice plugin was totally functional from inside openoffice without the need to visit the website, I believe it will be of more value and that’s what I intend to do… hopefully when I’m done with what in my hands now.
Download here: tinymce_clker
Requirements: PHP, TinyMCE 3+
Installation: Unpack inside
Since WordPress uses TinyMCE, the picture is basically the same! and this picture will change based on your theme.
Tested on WordPress 2.5 and 2.6
Download: Clker wordpress plugin .
- Unpack the zip file inside /wp-content/plugins
- Activate the plugin from inside your wordpress
- Have fun
Feedback is welcomed.
Finally, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. It’s 4:21 AM and I’m very happy to reach this stage with the openoffice addon.
You can download it Openoffice.org addon for clker.com integration . Installation is very easy, from the tools menu in openoffice, select Extension Manager. Click add, and point to the file. You will need to restart openoffice for it to work.
This extension will show you the contents of your basket stored on clker, and will allow you to place any clipart image in the clipboard, then you can paste it in the correct place in your document.
Still there are some minor issues:
- The addon parent is currently null, so an extra window will appear in the task bar
- The way we place the picture in the clipboard is by loading it in draw, select all and copy then closing draw. There are better ways for doing this. You will notice that the screen will flicker especially if your using the ODG or the SVG formats since draw takes some time to render the vectors.
In case you wanted to play with the source, the addon source is here.
