Oh yeah, and I did not get the photo from a website that had a clickwrap agreement I had to click through that would limit the book's use.

This image truly is in the public domain. It's from a book called "Laboulaye's Fairy Book" by Edouard Laboulaye. The illustrator is Edward G. McCandlish. The book's copyright says 1920. Anything before 1923 is free game for anybody to use even for commercial purposes. So you don't have to worry.
